1st Customer Review : Noisy and leaky pump
BEWARE!! Pentair does not warranty labor on this pump, parts only. Amazon and Pool Supply Warehouse are trying to help me.
I received the pump 7 days after ordering it. That was pretty good considering I ordered it on Dec. 16, 2011 at the height of the Christmas mail blitz. It was installed on Dec. 23, 2011 ( I live in Florida) IT LEAKS( not from the plumbing).
Pentair has put me in touch with a local pool company but it turns out the factory warranty only covers parts. The Pentair affiliate wants to charge me $125.00 for labor to replace the seals that were defective from the factory. Change the review to no stars. Bummer.
The installation was tricky because the plumbing was not compatible with the Hayward I was replacing. Not a big deal though. The big deal is that the pump is NOISY, far from "whisper quiet"and a drip developed. . Upon checking to see if the noise was from improper seating on the slab I noticed a water leak from underneath the motor. I...

2nd Customer Review : Distinct Design
For over 12 years I serviced my own pool for the most part, but about 2 years ago my pump motor went out and I called a local company to come out and fix it, 4 visits, much stress and $315.00 later it worked and stopped leaking... until now. The "tech" over-tightened the body clamp and that's where it burst open releasing full pressure... luckily I was home so I could shut it off and prevent a possible disaster. The old unit was 1 horse and I thought it may have been underpowered because I have a solar heater on the roof so I took a chance and went up to 1 1/2 horse. I bought this pump because it said it was stainless steel ( I never did see evidence for that claim ) and because it was designed with union fittings for 1 1/2 inch or 2 inch PVC which really made it easy to install, which is extremely important because I'm basically a cripple. It works perfectly, the electrical hook ups were ready for 220 which is the way to go. This thing looks great and is quieter than the last one, so...
3rd Customer Review : Nice replacement for failed pump
Chose this Pentair after having had a miserable experience with a Hayward that failed after 15 months. Chose to replace rather than rebuild after local service rep said problem is rampant on the Hayward units. Easy installation for the most part, but getting O rings to stay in place was a bit challenging. Pump is running great, if a bit noisier than I would prefer. Amazon's supplier source was great and pump arrived on-time without any damage in transit.
