1st Customer Review : Good (not Great) Cleaning; BUT More Durable than its Competition
My above ground pool came with a Hayward Aquabug cleaner. The Aquabug did an excellent cleaning job, and took less time to clean my pool than the Kreepy Krauly 'Lil Shark. The problem with the Aquabug was that it only lasted for 1 season before the gears wore out and it quit moving.
Last summer, I bought the 'Lil Shark as a replacement for my Aquabug. It has less moving parts; so there is less to wear out on it. I used my 'Lil Shark all season last year and it worked very well. I just opened my pool this year; and so far the 'Lil Shark still works like new.
I live in New Mexico and get a lot of blowing dirt on the bottom of my pool. The 'Lil Shark automatically cleans the bottom of my 13'x25' pool in about 4-5 hours. My only complaint is that it only get within 1-2" from the side walls and doesn't climb them at all. (The Hayward Aquabug would actually climb the wall about 8-10".)
One nice feature about the 'Lil Shark is that it has a connector...

2nd Customer Review : So far so good
I bought the Kreepy Krauly Lil Shark to replace an aging Polaris pool cleaner (with the turtle shell) and so far I've found it works much better. The shark connects to the pump intake and sucks the debris from the pool floor. The turtle connected to the pump return and simply blew the debris toward a collection bag. I prefer the shark's method because it actually removes the debris instead of just stirring it around. The only problems I've had with it so far is that the hose tends to coil up (even though it can spin independently) and the pump pressure changes while it is in operation, thus making it stop after a while until I empty the pump filter bin. Still, I like that I can get to all the moving parts (there's only one I've found so far!) and that it has fewer pieces that will tear or need special care.
3rd Customer Review : Where it cleans, it cleans well
We got our Lil Shark when we bought our 15 foot pool. The one on display scurried around the sample pool like a bat out of hell. Ours goes around in small circles. The places it goes over get clean, but it likes the area under the skimmer. No matter where I place it, the Lil Shark rushes back to that spot. I have resorted to using a rope to tie it in the area that needs cleaning. It also doesn't like doing the perimeter of the pool, and constantly gets stuck under the ladder. After running it for hours, I generally have to get a pole and manually go over the areas it missed.
